Project Dates: 2017
Location: Franklinville, NC
Description: Our team provided architectural services to develop a new single-family residence for a widowed senior on a farm homestead. The homeowner lives their alone but has gatherings for bible study weekly. The home was oriented on the site to capture views of the surrounding farm. The shape of the house mimics the rural farm barns in the area and allows natural daylight into the gathering spaces. The odd shape of the roof allowed for space on the interior to expand and contract so it did not feel vast and empty while there alone, but could also spaciously accommodate gatherings for her bible studies. The home was designed to meet the aging needs with everything being on one floor from car to home and full ADA accessibility.
